Last time I made a 30 day bet about food I became vegetarian
(and lately pescatarian), this was 18 years ago, so when my colleagues mocked
my decision to eliminate sugar from my diet I decided that this time it was
going to be the real thing and will stick to it for at least 30 days.
Being a fairly healthy and conscious eater, the sweet tooth (read
chocolate addiction), plays havoc with my hormones and makes my skin explode in
phenomenal eruptions that mixed with wrinkles give my face a peculiar look. Ok ok,
it is not that bad, make up is such a great thing!
Past the Halloween sugar rush of pumpkin pie, chocolate, muffins
and other delicious sweet treats, one would see it as the perfect timing to start
this torture, but having ‘called it quits’ with the boy (see blog: ‘30daysforonlinemenshopping’),
my body is aching for some chocolate satisfaction and constantly reminding me
of the party sugary leftovers sitting on the cupboard all alone in the dark.
Having resisted last night’s (day 1) colourful cupcakes that
the meditation group happily munched in delight, I feel that this is going to be
a struggle but the only way to deal with an addiction is to stop it for at last 21
days as it takes 21 days to create an habit or eliminate one and 30 days for
your body cells to renew.
If you feel that you need to let go of a negative habit/addiction
or start a healthy/productive new one, why not starting it now and share your
thoughts/fears/results with me?
